It is highly unlikely that Emulator X2 will work in Windows XP compatibility mode for the following reasons:
- Emulator X2 has copy protection that requres specific EMU Hardware to be present for it to work.
- Last I checked, the PatchMix DSP for EMU1212M Software can't be installed into a Para-Virtualized copy of XP.
- Even if Emulator X2 could be installed into a Para-Virtualized Copy of XP, the latency would be waaay to high. For Emulatorx X2 to work correctly, audio latencies should be less than 20 milliseconds. I suspect the SB 16 Driver that comes with XP Compatibility Mode will have a latency of several hundred milliseconds (this kind of latency is intolerable in professional audio)
I am almost certain that the real problem is the fact that CDAC11BA.EXE service only runs in 32 Bit Windows 7. It will not run in 64 Bit Window 7. If I couldlegally obtain a 64 Bit Version of the CDAC11BA.EXE copy protection interface, then I am fairly certain that my fully legal copy of Emulator X2 will work in 64 Bit Windows 7.

For now, I will run Windows 7 in 32 Bit Mode. Despite the fact that Emulator X2 doesn't run in 64 Bit Windows 7, it does run in 32 Bit Windows 7 without major issue.

This powerful tool is applicable to everything from adding a custom reverb (by adding a reverb impulse to another sound) to full blown voice articulation of musical instruments (combining speech with an instrument).
